WICKLIFFE, Ohio -- Police say a man was shot twice in the head at the hands of his housemate Saturday.

It happened just before 11:30 a.m.

"It's just very scary," said John Harrison, a neighbor. "It's very disturbing that people in this world are like that. It's heartbreaking, really."

The 1700 block of East 290th Street was like a scene from a movie, according to neighbors. Caution tape surrounded the home where the violence happened, and several police cars lined the street.

Police tell Fox 8 the victim was able to leave the residence where he was shot and somehow ran next door to a neighbor for help.

Authorities arrived minutes later.

"The officers located a male who had been shot in the head, however he was actually speaking with officers and somewhat alert," said Lt. Pat Hengst, of the Wickliffe Police Department.

The suspect was still inside of the home after the violence happened. Officials negotiated with him for about 45 minutes before he agreed to come out of the house and surrender.

He was taken to the Wickliffe City Jail.

Several Wickliffe police officers spent Saturday at the scene with The Bureau of Criminal Investigation, searching for evidence in and around the home.

Officials have not said what led up to the shooting but do confirm the victim had surgery on Saturday.

The names of the men involved have not been released.

Police said the suspect will be arraigned in Willoughby Municipal Court on Monday.
