Friends Honor Kent Student Killed in Crash

KENT, Ohio — Just a few days after he passed away, friends and classmates of Kent State University senior Joseph “JJ” Marino gathered for a vigil in his honor.

It was held at his off-campus home in Kent.

Marino, 23, died in a car accident in Alabama on the way home from spring break Saturday when the car he was in with four of his friends collided with a truck.

His family was making funeral arrangements for him on Tuesday.

Marino was a senior accounting major and a 2008 graduate of Padua Franciscan High School in Parma.
