RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Ohio-- The Richmond Heights Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own: K-9 officer Kubo Casto.

Kubo died Sunday, March 24.

The K-9 was adopted by patrol officer Tim Casto and his family ten years ago.

They spent a decade together, fighting crime and educating the community about the police force.

According to Kubo's obituary, he did numerous demonstrations for D.A.R.E., day care centers, outreach centers, churches and schools. He also assisted with the tracking and location of a 7-year-old girl who went missing from school and the location of an Alzheimer’s patient who went missing from home.

A special service for Kubo will be held in Willoughby Hills on Tuesday.
