CLEVELAND — Ballet in Cleveland has invited Ballets with a Twist, a New York City-based dance company, to audition young dancers for a production coming to PlayHouseSquare in September.

Dancers ages 6 to 9 are welcome to audition for the production, titled Cocktail Hour, on Sunday, April 14. Registration will begin at 10:00 a.m. and auditions will run from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Casting will be posted immediately after and then dancers will have their first production rehearsal around 1:30 p.m.

The company described Cocktail Hour as a family-friendly suite of dances that both celebrates the rich creativity of American social culture and honors the deep roots of classical ballet.

For Cocktail Hour, the children will dance alongside dance company members for Mint Julep, a nostalgic depiction of Kentucky Derby traditions.

The audition will be held at The Movement Factory located on 13000 Athens Avenue in Lakewood. Parents must accompany all children who are auditioning and a suggested donation of $10 will be given to Ballet in Cleveland.
