Charges May Be Filed in Teacher’s Death

CANTON, Ohio — A person who witnessed the accident that killed a Perry Local Schools teacher is shedding new light on the tragedy.

Matthew McLeese, 32, died in a two-car collision in Canton on Saturday.

It happened on the corner of Faircrest Street SW and Sherman Church Avenue around 10:20 a.m.

On Wednesday, Captain Jack Angelo with the Canton Police Department said according to a witness statement, a truck went through a red light and McLeese’s vehicle went under the trailer.

McLeese was pronounced dead at Aultman Hospital a short time later.

The report will be sent to the prosecutor’s office where charges will be considered.

Meantime, the community is mourning the loss of the Pfeiffer Intermediate School sixth grade science and social studies teacher and track coach.
