CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Browns signed veteran quarterback Jason Campbell on Tuesday night.

The 31-year-old is expected to come to Cleveland and provide competition for starter Brandon Weeden.

“Jason is an established leader who has started a number of games in this league and has had success,” Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski said in a news release. “He brings us a veteran presence and a good set of physical tools. He played in a similar system when he was in Oakland and that will help in his transition.”

Campbell began his NFL career in 2005 after getting drafted by the Washington Redskins.

He played in just six games last season as a back up to Jay Cutler in Chicago. He had just two touchdowns on the year.

The Browns also have Colt McCoy on the roster.
