DAYTON, Ohio — Ohio State lived up to its No. 2 seed in the West Regional in Dayton Friday with a 95-70 victory over the No. 15 seed Iona Gaels.

Sam Thompson delighted the mostly Ohio State crowd with his high wire act, featuring dunks and creative baskets as the Buckeyes won for the 27th time in 34 games this season.

Deshaun Thomas led the Bucks with 24 points on 8 for 12 shooting while Thompson scored 20 points, pulled down 10 rebounds and had two assists as coach Thad Matta was able to give many members of the bench some time on the court during an easier second half.

Aaron Craft scored only four points, but showed his defensive prowess with seven steals, while handing out seven assists.

Iona held a brief lead, 6-5 early in the first half before Ohio State took over.

Fourteen seconds later Thompson scored, and Ohio State never looked back.
