CLEVELAND– An employee of the City of Cleveland, who is also a community activist, has been indicted on charges that include kidnapping, attempted rape, attempted sexual battery and gross sexual imposition.

James Box, whose title is Project Director with the Community Relations Dept., was indicted for alleged offenses that occurred between August and October 2011 in Shaker Heights.

The indictment states Box kidnapped a woman, held her against her will and sexually assaulted her.

The City of Cleveland said, “James Box has been suspended without pay pending adjudication of the charges.”

Box is expected to appear in court April 3.
