Cavs Win Over Wizards

CLEVELAND– Dion Waiters fired home 20 points and Alonzo Gee added 17 as the Cavaliers fashioned a 95-90 win over the Washington Wizards at Quicken Loans Arena. Waiters scored 12 points in the final quarter and his free throw shooting at the end helped seal the victory.

Cleveland played its first game since Kyrie Irving sprained his left shoulder Sunday against Toronto. The Cavaliers are 5-10 without him this season.

The Wizards scored the game’s first 11 points, including three 3-pointers by Martell Webster. Cleveland coach Byron Scott called timeout just over two minutes into the game and benched all of his starters with the exception of Shaun Livingston.

John Wall led Washington with a season-high 27 points. The Wizards have the league’s worst road record at 5-25.

Cleveland placed six players in double figures. Tristan Thompson popped in 13 pints and hauled down 14 rebounds.
