CLEVELAND — Police followed a trail of blood from a victim’s apartment to the suspect’s after a stabbing, but had to investigate further to find him.

A call reporting the incident was made on Friday around 8 p.m.

The Cleveland Division of Police responded to the 7500 block of Euclid Avenue where Celeste Dicillo, 60, was found with stab wounds.

Officers talked to a building employee who said Dicillo had called him and repeated, “He stabbed me,” several times.

When the suspect was not found inside his apartment, police looked at surveillance video and tried a different apartment.

The suspect was found hiding in the bathroom and had blood on his jeans, the Cleveland Division of Police said.

The 30-year-old was arrested.

According to police, a shirt, shoes and knife, all covered with blood, were found in the building’s trash chute.

Dicillo is being treated at MetroHealth Medical Center, but was not able to speak with the police because of her injuries.
