CLEVELAND — The America SCORES Cleveland program has expanded to include two additional local middle schools, bringing to the total number of students to more than 500.

America SCORES Cleveland provides on-site after school programming for students in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Students participate in activities combining soccer, service learning and creative writing.

The expansion of the program was made possible by a grant of $18,200 from the U.S. Soccer Foundation. At least 64 students at Robinson G. Jones School in West Park and Wade Park School in the Hough neighborhood are now able to participate in the program because of the grant.

The AMERICA Scores program is part of a sports-based nationwide initiative for boys and girls ages 8 to 15 in urban neighborhoods.
