CUYAHOGA CO., Ohio — Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald delivered the State of the County Address Tuesday, saying the county’s new government is working.

FitzGerald painted a rosy picture for the county, saying it’s on the rise and putting the days of scandal and corruption behind.

“I believe the times and our fortunes are changing for the better,” he said. “We’ve certainly seen moments of improvement in recent decades but consistent growth has been a challenge. But just as periods of decline were apparent now our resurgence is undeniable. We’re catching our breath and the ingredients are here to build a new and stronger foundation for progress.”

He touted an agreement signed by all of the county’s communities not to raid each other for businesses.

FitzGerald also used the time to announce that the Medical Mart has a new name: the Global Center for Health Innovation. FitzGerald said the center currently has a 50 percent occupancy.
