Police: Pipe Bomb Found Under Pickup Truck

ALLIANCE, Ohio — The Alliance Police Department is investigating after a pipe bomb was found under someone’s vehicle Thursday afternoon.

It happened at around 1 p.m. in the 200 block of West Main Street.

According to police, a resident saw something suspicious attached to the underside of his pickup truck and called police.

Officers arrived to find an approximately 2-foot long, apparent pipe bomb with wires. Officials secured the area, then summoned the Summit County Bomb Squad and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives.

Once there, bomb specialists determined that the item was in fact a live explosive device. They disarmed the bomb at the scene without detonation, police said.

The incident is under investigation by the Alliance Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives.

Anyone with information is asked to call the APD.
