ALLIANCE, Ohio — One person was arrested after police said they were able to make numerous purchases of marijuana in student housing at the University of Mount Union.

According to Alliance police, the special investigations and criminal investigations units executed a search warrant at an apartment on Hartshorn Street Friday.

The warrant was the result of an approximately 30-day investigation into illegal drug sales taking place at the residence, which is student housing on the campus, said police.

During the investigation, said police, officers had been able to make numerous purchases of marijuana from one of the residents.

The warrant was served without incident, and the subject of the investigation was taken into custody, said police. The search produced marijuana, scales, records of sales and money owed and cash that is believed to be proceeds from the sales of marijuana, said police. Police also found pills.

Alexander C. Woodard, 20, was arrested and charged with one count of trafficking in marijuana. The trafficking charge was elevated to a felony of the fourth degree as the drug sales were taking place on university property, said police.

Woodard was also charged with aggravated possession of drugs and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Woodard will appear in Alliance Municipal Court Wednesday.
