Fireworks Mistaken for Explosions in Trumbull Co.

MESOPOTAMIA, Ohio — Residents from all over Trumbull County and neighboring counties were alarmed Tuesday night by the sounds of what they thought were explosions.

The sounds were heard from miles around, and viewers including from Ashtabula County, began contacting our newsroom shortly after 9 p.m., saying they heard what they thought was thunder or even gas well explosions.

Geauga County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers, however, said the sounds were a fireworks show in Mesopotamia.
