CLEVELAND — Crews on Friday were working to repair what was first believed to be a water main break in downtown Cleveland.

It turned out to be a hole in a steam pipe owned by Cleveland Thermal, a private company.

The problem occurred at the intersection of E. 12th and Superior and was discovered shortly before noon.

Throughout the day traffic was being rerouted to St. Clair or Superior avenues.

Cleveland police asked people to avoid the area, if possible.
