CANAL FULTON, Ohio — The Canal Fulton Police Department has a brand new member in its force.

Bishop, a German Shepherd puppy, was donated to the department through an agency called B.A.R.K.

B.A.R.K. has agreed to train Bishop and his handler, Ptl.Josh Barabasch, for free.

“This is basically a $14,000 donation to our community,” the department said on its Facebook page.

Once Bishop is a year old, he’ll be cross trained in protection and tracking. The department expects the pooch to be certified as a drug detecting dog by May.

Canal Fulton Mayor Harbaugh approved of the measure to combat any illegal drug abuse or possession in the community.
