CLEVELAND — The annual Chili Bowl Classic 5k is celebrating 27 years with a new start and finish at the Galleria at Erieview this year.

The race course will take more than 1,200 runners past the newly named FirstEnergy Stadium, the Great Lakes Science Center and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum. The Classic will also feature live music, race awards and for the second year a chili cook-off. Runners and spectators will vote on their favorite dish prepared by local firefighters. Proceeds will benefit the MetroHealth Medical Center Burn Unit.

The race and cook-off will be held February 16, and sponsors include Team Challenge, EarthFare, 5 Hour Energy, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Winks Bar and Grille, Yuengling Beer, the Cleveland Fire Department and Hermes Sports & Events.

Registration is required to participate in the 5k. Mailed entries must be received by Wednesday, February 13, and online registration closes at 9 a.m. on Friday, February 15. Race day registration will also be available on-site at The Galleria at Erieview.

Registered runners can begin picking up race packets on February 15 at Winks Bar and Grille from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Unregistered runners may also sign up during this time.
