SYLVANIA, Ohio (WTVG) -- A driver for the Ohio Department of Transportation took a break from clearing snow to stop a wrong-way driver.

"Scary!  I mean, you hear about this all the time.  I never thought I would experience it myself," George Seambos said.  "I was on routine snow and ice patrol heading north toward the Michigan line and I noticed headlights coming at me."

Without hesitation Seambos turned on his flashers, pulled his snowplow truck sideways and blocked the oncoming traffic from the wrong-way driver.

The wrong-way driver drove off, but Seambos caught up with him again and made a call to 911.

"He was going the wrong way.  I got him to get back on the right way," he said.

Seambos followed the driver to a nearby exit.

"Then I noticed the car next to me sitting at the traffic light.  So I pulled up next to him. We're both at the red light. I looked over at him and he looked confused and I definitely knew something was wrong at that time," Seambos explained.

When the light turned green the car didn't move, so Seambos took advantage by blocking his car, then he jumped out and took away the man's keys.

"There were also vehicles coming from behind.  I knew if they got around me something bad would of happened.  So that is why I put my truck sideways to keep people a safe distance away," he said.

A few minutes later, police showed up and the man was arrested for operating a vehicle impaired.

Seambos is hoping more people will be responsible before jumping in a vehicle.

"The Super Bowl is coming up this week, just try to keep designated drivers in mind and don't drink and drive this weekend," he said.
