The former first dog, Barney, dies.

Barney was the 12-year-old Scottish Terrier belonging to former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush.

Barney was the star of Bush White House Christmas videos, known as the Barney Cam.

He had the run of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. during Bush’s two-term presidency.

Barney was often carried aboard Air Force One by the president himself.

A statement from the former first family said Barney had been suffering from lymphoma and was just too old to fight it off.
