House Fire Kills Man in Barberton

BARBERTON, Ohio — The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed a man died in a Barberton house fire on Saturday morning.

Neighbors called 911 shortly after 1 a.m. to report the Lincoln Avenue blaze.

When firefighters arrived, they found flames shooting out of the roof and the victim unconscious on the kitchen floor.

He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:40 a.m.

An autopsy will be performed later on Saturday.

Witnesses said they heard an explosion in the back of the home, but the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Barberton Police Department are investigating.
