MAYFIELD HEIGHTS– Mayfield Heights Mayor Greg Costabile will step down as mayor Feb. 1.

Mayfield Heights Law Director Leonard Carr said complaints were filed by the Ohio Ethics Commission, charging Costabile with two violations of the financial disclosure law.

The violations accuse him of knowingly filing a false financial disclosure statement with the Ohio Ethics Commission on where he got his income and how much he received in two deals he was involved in.

Mayor Costabile did not address the alleged violations in a press release. He said he’s stepping down to devote more time to family matters and his law practice. “As rewarding as my service to the City of Mayfield Heights has been, it is time that I refocus my time and energies on other aspects of my life. This has been a very difficult decision. My children are growing up quickly and I do not wish to miss out on opportunities with them and my wife that I will not be able to replace,” said Mayor Costabile.

FOX 8 placed a call to the mayor’s office to seek comment on the alleged ethics violations.
