Father Charged in Son’s Death Pleads Not Guilty

AKRON, Ohio — An Akron man charged in the shooting death of his 4-year-old son pleaded not guilty in Akron Municipal Court Thursday morning.

Terrance Allen, 49, is charged with involuntary manslaughter, felony child endangering, weapons under disability and tampering with evidence in the death of his son, Jamarcus Allen.

A judge set his bond at $500,000.

According to Akron police, a Summit County sheriff’s deputy on Wednesday morning found the boy in his father’s car with a gunshot wound to the head.

Jamarcus was rushed to Akron Children’s Hospital, where he later died.

A bullet hole was found in the roof of the car. Terrance Allen was later charged.

The shooting is still under investigation.
