CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio — A 59-year-old woman is accused of stealing a large sum of money from the elderly man she cared for, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Deborah Ramoz is charged with one count of theft from the elderly.

According to the sheriff’s office, in July of 2012, Adult Protective Services contacted them about a possible financial exploitation involving an 87-year-old man.

An investigation revealed Ramoz had stolen about $75,000 from the man over a 1½ year period, a news release stated.

Authorities say Ramoz used the money to make over 130 purchases of gemstones in California.

She was arrested earlier this week and booked into the Summit County Jail.

A search warrant at Ramoz’s Cuyahoga Falls home recovered numerous containers of gemstones.
