Burglars tried to break into a gun safe at the home of a man in White Plains, New York, just weeks after his name and address was published on a controversial gun map, according to Daily Mail.

The Daily Mail reports that the map, which appeared in the Journal News, included names and addresses of those in possession of legally owned guns. It was published after the massacre in Newtown, Connecticut.

The victim in the break-in is in his 70s. One of the suspects has been arrested.

But the incident is leading many to believe the controversial map is being used by criminals to plan gun thefts, according to Daily Mail.
