CLEVELAND, Ohio — A local marina is getting a needed boost from the state of Ohio.

The Edgewater Public Marina was heavily damaged by Superstorm Sandy. The Department of Natural Resources requested funds to remove debris and repair the breakwall and dredge the area.

On Monday, State Rep. Nicki Antonio announced the release of more than $1.5 million  in state funds for the repairs.

Lakefront State Park is an important generator of economic activity in our district,” said Antonio, in a release. “The repairs are much-needed, and I’m happy that we got this done in a timely manner to be up and running when the boating season returns.”

The project is expected to be completed in 70 days.

The Edgewater Marina has a capacity of 280 boats.
