CLEVELAND -- An 81-year-old woman who died Wednesday morning after being struck by a van on the city's west side, has been identified.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office says the victim is Maxine Lobins.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the woman, who was using a walker, tried to cross at a crosswalk at Rocky River Drive and Lorain Avenue just before 8:30 Wednesday morning, when she was hit by a black van.

The driver never stopped and continued eastbound on Lorain Avenue.

Lobins was rushed to nearby Fairview Hospital, where she died.

One woman, who heard the accident, says whoever did this needs to come forward. "I think they should have stopped to see if she was alright. It was very inconsiderate that they took off. It wasn't real busy, but the drivers around here are pretty inconsiderate. They won't stop for you if you need to cross."

Police are gathering surveillance video in hopes of finding the driver.
