STAMFORD, Conn. (CTNow) — A freshman at Westhill High School is accused of throwing bleach at several students Monday morning, school officials said.

The accused and two other ninth grade students were injured and taken to Stamford Hospital, Sharon Beadle, spokeswoman for Stamford Public Schools said.

One of the ninth graders was quickly released from the hospital and the other two are expected to be released later Monday afternoon, Beadle said.

Several ninth graders were in a stairwell before classes started at 7:25 a.m. in what appears to be an altercation, she said.

The local police department is investigating.

Stamford Public Schools will take appropriate action after the investigation, Beadle said.
