Pres. Orders Pay Raises for Congress, Federal Workers
President Obama has signed an order allowing pay raises for Congress, federal workers and Vice President Joe Biden, according to the Huffington Post.
The executive order is set to take effect March 27, 2013, and is the first increase of its kind for Congress since 2009. The raises will range from .5 percent to one percent, and follows a salary freeze put in place in 2010.
The Vice President Biden will reportedly see his pay jump from $225,521 to $231,900 per year, and House Speaker John Boehner will see his paycheck increased to $224,500.
The order comes amid fierce fiscal cliff negotiations on Capitol Hill. Lawmakers have until midnight Dec. 31 to come to a decision.
