The newspaper criticized for publishing the names and addresses of gun owners has plans to publish even more names, according to Reuters.

Journal News, a New York state based newspaper, received backlash after publishing the names on December 24. The map-based list included thousands of gun permit holders in Westchester and Rockland counties in New York and reportedly included the headline “The gun owner next door: What you don’t know about the weapons in your neighborhood”.

Many gun owners opposed to the publishing retaliated by posting the newspaper’s reporters’ and editors’ information. Others said the information will tell criminals which homes to avoid, and which ones to target.

Approximately 44,000 gun owners hold permits in the counties the newspaper is collecting information. The number does not include rifle and shotguns, for which permits are not required for ownership.
