NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio -- It's the last shopping weekend before Christmas and this year, many last-minute shoppers will have some extra time to buy gifts.

This weekend, several area retailers will remain open around the clock so customers can fit shopping into their schedules.

Toys R Us, including the one in North Olmsted, is open 24 hours this weekend.

Macy's, including the one in Great Northern Mall, will be open 24 hours this weekend as well.

The store opened at 7:00 a.m. Friday, and will keep the doors unlocked until midnight Sunday.

Around-the-clock openings have been done at other Macy's stores around the country, but this is the first time for Northeast Ohio.

"It's really for the convenience of our customers, we find that a lot of customers that work different jobs, might have a third shift jobs or might work an overnight, really appreciate the fact that they don't have to worry if the store is open or not, they can just come up and shop," said store manager Jerry Kovatch.

"I personally wouldn't go shopping that late, but I'm sure some people would, just to get their last-minute shopping in," said shopper Dana Matthews.

"I like it, I like shopping when there's not too many people and hey, my coupons work 24 hours, my little cards, they work 24 hours a day.  I'll use them anytime they have them," said shopper Wendy Matthews.

After closing at midnight Sunday, Macy's stores will reopen at 7 a.m. Christmas Eve, staying open until 6 p.m.
