AKRON, Ohio -- It's a day that only happened once this century: December 12th 2012. So Wednesday an Akron Judge married 12 couples to make this day a memorable one. People walking down the aisle to get married believe December 12th 2012 is a very special day to tie the knot.
"I will never forget this day because he is my best friend.”
"I will never forget this day because I love her to death," says Mr. and Mrs. Ciara and Rodney Bailey of Akron.
Twelve happy couples scheduled their weddings at the Stubbs Justice Center in Akron to have Judge Kathryn Michael officiate over their "I Do's".
The judge presided over 12 wedding ceremonies on this unique numerical day.
"It’s an honor for me, I just feel as though people are inviting me into their lives when they ask me to perform their weddings, it's a landmark occasion someone getting married and I feel that it's a blessing," says Judge Kathryn Michael of the Akron Municipal Court.
Many of the couples that have been together for years circled 12-12-12 on their calendars to get married. They say it's a day that will be hard to forget.
"There's been a lot of hoopla leading up to this day and so I think it's kind of neat the fact that our anniversary will be 12-12-12.”
"We picked, basically, so we could remember it as 12-12-12 is pretty memorable, also because it's the last time we'll have a date like that in our lifetime," says Mr. & Mrs. Julie and Chris Macchione of Hudson.
Another big day many brides and grooms to be are circling on their calendars is November 12th, 2013. That's 11-12-13. Let’s just hope that day is just as special for those couples.
