Driver Accused of Killing Woman, 91, Changes Plea

WILLOUGHBY, Ohio — The driver accused of hitting a 91-year-old woman using a walker to cross a parking lot changed his plea to guilty.

Police officers and firefighters responded to the traffic accident on Nov. 15 around 10:59 a.m.

According to the Willoughby Police Department, Randall McCauley, 72, of Mentor, was driving a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 van west in the Willo Plaza Shopping Center driveway from Robinhood Drive.

As he turned right into the west parking lot of the Hantz Group, police said he hit Bertha  Adams, of Willoughby.

Adams was taken to Lake West Medical Center where she passed.

McCauley was not injured and charged with vehicular homicide.

His sentencing was scheduled for March 13.
