Forum Discusses Deadly Force Used in Police Chase
CLEVELAND — What really happened and where do we go from here? That’s the topic of discussion Thursday night at the Abyssinia Baptist Church on East 105th Street in Cleveland. It started at 6 p.m.
In attendance is the Cleveland Police Chief Michael McGrath. He’s expected to discuss policy and transparency. Full disclosure is expected. Why did officers open fire – with 137 rounds on two people in a car after a long police chase? Timothy Russell, 43, and Malissa Williams, 30, died after getting shot more than 20 times each.
No gun or shell casings were found inside their vehicle.
Public Safety Director Martin Flask and Chief McGrath will give an outline of the process that is in place to investigate the shooting and who has jurisdiction over the investigation, as well as review administrative policies and how the Cleveland Division of Police intends to keep the community updated.
