Man Dead, Woman Hurt in Akron Shooting

AKRON, Ohio — Homicide detectives are investigating a double shooting in Akron that left  a man dead and a woman injured late Monday evening.

Akron police officers were called to the 600 block of East Avenue at around 10 p.m. for a report of shots fired.

Once they arrived, they found a man and a woman with gunshot wounds inside a car.

The man, identified by the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office as 18-year-old Deshawn Dwayne Smith, of Akron, did not survive.

The woman, whose identity has not yet been released, was taken to a local hospital. Her condition was unavailable.

No one has been arrested.
