Furniture Giant Ikea Issues Apology

An apology for the use of forced labor from Swedish furniture giant “Ikea.”

The company said Friday that some of its suppliers in the former East Germany used political prisoners and convicts to build furniture.

And it admitted not doing enough to prevent it:

The company’s report on the issue is being met with some criticism though, as well as calls for an independent investigation.

And there’s mixed reaction from groups representing victims of the former Communist regime.
