CSU Comes Out Strong Against Malone

CLEVELAND — CSU wins hoops exhibition against Malone.

Former Cleveland Central Catholic big man Antron Grady scored 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to help the Cleveland State Vikings beat Malone 79-70.   Former Strongsville star Tim Kamczyc chipped in with 12 points and 12 rebounds.  

Cleveland State, which lost four senior starters from the team that made the NIT tourney, had Kamczyc leading the starting five while 4 others in that unit were sophomores.

Marlin Mason had 11 points and 4 rebounds while Charlie Lee dished out 7 assists to go with his 6 points and 3 steals.

Two freshmen, Josh Ivory and Bryn Forbes played well in the contest at the Wolstein Center.  Forbes had 14 bench points and Ivory added 9 points and 5 rebounds.

Isiah Elliott was top scorer in the game while leading Malone. He canned 21 points. 

Cleveland State opens the regular season this Friday (Nov. 9) when the Vikings host Grambling at 7:30 p.m. The women’s team gets the doubleheader going as they host South Dakota at 5 p.m.
