ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – Several boats drifted out to Lake Erie during the strong winds and heavy rain that hammered Northeast Ohio on Monday and Tuesday.

At the Westlake Marina, under Detroit Avenue, at least five boats were lost during the height of the storm.  According to the Rocky River Police Department, several boat owners failed to successfully tie-up their personal watercrafts.

While it never overflowed, the Rocky River did rise dramatically during the storm.

The fast-moving water also destroyed several docks and created a boat pile-up along the banks of the river.

Overall, the storm damage was widespread on the east side of Cleveland.

Crews from several electric companies are out working to restore power to thousands of people in Northern Ohio.

FOX 8’s Mark Zinni was out-and-about on Tuesday for a closer look at some of what people are coping with in the aftermath of Sandy.
