BATON ROUGE, La. (CNN) — A baby sitter in Louisiana is under arrest for allegedly leaving a baby in a plastic container.

Police said drugs were involved.

Police were called to an apartment where the child was found in a container crying and sitting in a soiled diaper. The baby’s grandmother was on her way to visit some friends when she had a feeling that her grandchild was home alone.

“Apparently, the grandmother was headed to that location, and she saw the baby sitter and her boyfriend walking down the street,” said Baton Rouge police Cpl. L’Jean McKneely.

The grandma drove to the locked apartment where she heard a baby crying. She alerted the apartment manager, who called police.

“They saw her grandchild who was sitting inside of a Tupperware inside of the home, left unattended, soaked in urine,” said McKneely.

The container was large enough to prevent the toddler from getting out. Police started looking for Shareese Renee Joseph, 26, who regularly looks after the infant.

“She was paid money to watch after the child,” said McKneely. “The child was left in her care around 8 o’clock that morning, and for some odd reason, she left with her boyfriend.”

Cops found Joseph 15 blocks from the apartment at a store. They said she won’t be baby-sitting for a long time.

“We found signs of marijuana inside,” added McKneely.

It was the second time Joseph has been cited for drugs.
