Police Investigate Fatal Crash in Cleveland

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit is looking into a fatal crash that occurred at the intersection of Walden Avenue and Lee Road in Cleveland.

According to Sgt. Sammy Morris with the Cleveland police department, a Nissan Maxima crashed before 8 a.m. on Sunday.

The 72-year-old driver was taken to South Pointe Hospital by EMS where he died from his injuries.

His name has not been released.

Morris said the driver was the only person in the car and that no other vehicles were involved.

A preliminary investigation revealed the victim was headed southbound on Lee Road when he veered off the road and struck two poles.

The Cuyahoga County medical examiner’s office will determine the official cause of death.
