There’s more to the feud between American Idol judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj than what was first believed, and the new development has prompted Carey to hire extra security.

TMZ obtained video of Idol’s Tuesday auditions in Charlotte, North Carolina, which were reportedly interrupted when Minaj blew up at Carey at the judges’ table.

The site reported that the disagreement happened over a contestant’s performance.

On Thursday’s episode of The View, Barbara Walters shared a conversation she had with Carey.

Carey said when Minaj walked off the set, multiple people heard her say, “If I had a gun I would shoot the (expletive).”

Staff members, hair dressers, producers and others heard the comment, according to Carey.

Walters went on to say though Carey is concerned, she doesn’t think anything will happen, “but Nicki is unpredictable.”

Carey plans to continue with the show because she enjoys it and loves mentoring the young artists.
