LA CROSSE, Wisconsin — Ask any television news anchor and they’ll tell you there is never a shortage of criticism from viewers. But when a morning news anchor at CBS affiliate WKBT in La Crosse, Wisconsin received an email criticizing her for her weight, she had enough.

Jennifer Livingston took to the air Tuesday to respond.

She did so after her husband, Mike Thompson, an evening anchor at the same station, posted the email on his Facebook page. Livingston said she was overwhelmed by the response.

Here is the email from Kenneth W. Krause that prompted Livingston to speak out:

“Hi Jennifer, It’s unusual that I see your morning show, but I did so for a very short time today. I was surprised indeed to witness that your physical condition hasn’t improved for many years. Surely you don’t consider yourself a suitable example for this community’s young people, girls in particular. Obesity is one of the worst choices a person can make and one of the most dangerous habits to maintain. I leave you this note hoping that you’ll reconsider your responsibility as a local public personality to present and promote a healthy lifestyle.”

According to a post on WKBT’s website, Krause did respond to Livingston’s editorial. He offered to help Livingston lose weight, but did not offer an apology.
