SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio -- Summit County law enforcement is getting a head start on making sure registered sex offenders are where they should be on Halloween.
Deputies are paying surprise visits to tier three offenders and registered sex offenders to be sure their addresses on file match current addresses. More than 900 offenders live in Summit County, and of the 125 visited so far, 123 lived at their expected address.
It is unknown which two offenders were not at their current address, or their whereabouts.
Residents are also able to check the Summit County Sheriff's website for a detailed list of registered offenders. Deputies say parents and guardians with Halloween plans should check the registry before going trick-or-treating.
