NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio — Several Elyria teens were arrested for allegedly having stolen items from a home in their possession Monday.

Police say a North Ridgeville resident called and reported two “suspicious” looking males in the area at approximately 11 a.m. There were reportedly several burglaries in the area recently, which prompted the call.

After searching the area, officers say they initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle due to its location in the area. The vehicle sped off, leading officers on a chase of about half a mile. The vehicle then stopped abruptly and all occupants ran out and fled in different directions. A 17-year-old was arrested approximately an hour later and questioned by police.

Three other teens, ages 17, 16 and 14 were found at approximately 5:30 p.m. near US Route 20 and SR 83 and taken into custody as well.

Police say a search of the vehicle confirmed several items in the car to be stolen. The items allegedly came from the home of the resident who made the original call to authorities.

The incident is currently under investigation.
