Country singer Jason Aldean has apologized for his public display of affection with a former ‘American Idol’ contestant last Wednesday.

TMZ posted pictures of the country singer and Season 11 ‘American Idol’ contender Brittany Kerr hugging, touching and flirting at a bar in California.

Aldean, who has been married since 2001, released a statement to his fans on his Facebook page. “I wanted to talk to you directly, so you were hearing the truth from me and not just reading allegations made about my personal life on gossip web sites,” he wrote. “The truth is that I screwed up. I had too much to drink, let the party get out of hand and acted inappropriately at a bar.”

He said, “I ultimately ended up embarrassing my family and myself.” And then adds, “I left alone and that’s the end of the story.”

Aldean is married to his high school sweetheart Jessica Ussery. The couple has two young daughters.
