FNTD Week #6: Buchtel Soars Past East

AKRON, Ohio – Akron Buchtel is loving life in the Akron City Series. After starting the season with three straight losses on the road against perennial Division I powerhouses, the Griffins have opened conference play with three straight wins, by a combined margin of 68-3.

Buchtel (3-3, 3-0 ACS) flew past Akron East (0-6, 0-3) on Saturday, blanking the Dragons, 28-0.

The Griffins face their only challenger for the City Series Championship next Friday, when they travel to crosstown rival, Ellet (4-2, 2-0). The Orangemen could be 5-1, but were forced to forfeit the season-opening game against Springfield.

East will look for its first win when it travels to Firestone (2-4, 1-1) next Friday. The Dragons have lost 15 of their last 16 games.
