Driver Changing Tire Struck on I-271

OAKWOOD VILLAGE, Ohio — A driver was taken to an unknown hospital by Life Flight on Saturday after he was hit by a semi truck, an Oakwood Village police dispatcher confirmed.

The victim had been driving a tow truck and stopped to change a tire at the I-271/I-480 merge near mile marker 22 on I-271 north around 1:30 p.m. when he was hit.

Two good Samaritans, who happened to be nurses, stopped to help after the accident.

The victim’s name and details on his condition were not immediately known.

The highway was shut down on both sides for at least 45 minutes as rescue crews responded, but has since reopened.
