JACKSON TWP., Ohio — The Stark County coroner’s office confirmed a 15-year-old boy drown on Saturday morning after his small fishing boat capsized.

Two teen survivors, believed to be 15- and 17-years-old, were being evaluated at an area hospital for exposure to the cold water.

According to Rick Walters, an investigator with the Stark County coroner’s office, the victim was Alex Campbell of Jackson Twp.

One of the survivors managed to swim to shore and alerted a neighbor of the emergency around 2 a.m.

It happened on a private lake in Woodmere Estates in Jackson Twp.

“The cause of death is not in question.  He died as the result of a fresh water drowning.  Otherwise, there were no injuries,” Walters told Fox 8 News.

Walters said there was some evidence that alcohol was involved, and routine toxicology tests will be performed.
