CLEVELAND — Police are investigating a shooting after an alleged robbery attempt on the city’s east side.

Dispatchers received a call at 9:54 a.m. after gunshots were heard being fired at Lotus Mini-Mart located on the corner of Euclid and Wayside Avenue.

Police say a suspect and a store clerk were arguing when the suspect kicked in a door and entered a secured area behind bullet proof glass. After entering the area, police say the clerk obtained a handgun and shot the suspect. The suspect did not have a weapon.

Officers say upon arrival they found a male with gunshot wounds to the abdomen, arm and leg. He was taken by ambulance to MetroHealth Medical Center, and his condition is currently unknown.

Police arrested the store clerk for felonious assault and weapons under disability. The man has been named a suspect in a burglary/robbery report.
