The two worst teams in the American League Central battled into extra innings on Thursday afternoon at Progressive Field.

Tied at 3-all the Indians Casey Kotchman proved to be the hero. He stroked a single up the middle to score Shin Soo Choo in the bottom of the tenth to send the meager crowd home happy. The rally that downed the Minnesota Twins started with a Choo double. A Jason Kipnis ground out moved Choo to third. Both Carlos Santana and Michael Brantley were intentionally walked to set up a possible double play to get out of the inning. Kotchman had others ideas as he became the matinee hero with his basehit.

The Kotchman single made a winner out of Esmil Rogers. Kotchman had a productive day at the plate, going 3 for 5 and driving in two runs. The 4-3 victory by the Tribe means both teams are deadlocked at 62-88 as each battles to stay out of the cellar.

The Tribe travels to Kansas City for a series starting Friday night.
